In this post, I am going to show you my creative process. A peek behind the scenes of my art-making. I’m beginning with the ide and some of my thinking behind the piece. First, I’m going to present this work to you.
The piece
Title: The strength – This is the octopus number 7 of the State of mind series.
Year of making: 2021
Size: 50 cm x 70 cm

The idea
The octopus series is about deep thoughts and feelings that exist in me.
I represent in this work those situations in which we must have the strength to be silent.
This piece was inspired by The Strength tarot card.
The Strength tarot card shows a woman holds a fully grown lion and gently caresses its forehead and jaws.
To find the idea, brainstorm a list of words. Then I sketch as many ideas as possible and I pick one.
One of the things I was interested in the gentle strength of the maid over the lion.
In the same way that with strength I control many emotions. It is not healthy of course, but it is what it is.
Then I define the final sketch in Procreate and test some colors.
The painting process
And finally, I decide the surface I wanna work on, the size, and the colors. Ready to start painting.
